In line with our central objective of raising awareness of and interest in Co-Housing and demonstrating its benefits, we have undertaken a number of activities. These include:
-
Speaking at conferences and seminars on housing policy and on older persons’ issues. We were closely involved in planning (and speaking at) a conference on Co-Housing held in Glasgow in May 2005 by Glasgow Caledonian University. We have also spoken and/or led workshops at the Age Concern Scotland annual conference, Northern Housing Network Conference in Harrogate, Active Ageing conference in Dumfries, and several others.
-
Contacting and seeking support from elected members in the Scottish Parliament and local councils in Scotland, including attendance at meetings of the Affordable Housing committee at Holyrood.
-
Developing links with housing associations, health boards, universities.
-
Networking with other groups interested in Co-Housing
-
Addressing local community and business groups (e.g. Probus Clubs, Round Table)
-
Visits to sites relevant to Co-Housing, to eco-building, etc.
-
Media exposure (radio, TV, press, magazines) through interviews, appearances, news stories and other press releases
