The Vivarium Trust, in association with the Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAS), invite you to a seminar on Co-Housing on 6 March 2012 in Dunfermline.
With ever increasing pressure on identifying new more integrated ways of addressing the demographic, housing, personalisation, health and well being issues facing older people, innovative models of working need to be put into practice now. The Scottish Government’s recently published Older Person’s Housing Strategy - ‘Age, Home and Community’ - flags up Co-Housing as a worthwhile and innovative option for the future and includes the Vivarium Trust's planned pilot project in Fife as a case study.
Co-housing is particularly suitable for the over 50s as it helps to avoid social isolation, with evidence from Europe suggesting that older people living in Co-Housing remain fit and active and make fewer demands on health and social services than those in traditional accommodation.
The seminar will be of interest to all those involved in housing, health, community development and older people’s issues as policy makers, providers and users.
The attached flier provides more information on the programme and Co-housing. Chaired by Lesley Riddoch, broadcaster and journalist, an impressive group of speakers and experts have been brought together to raise awareness of the benefits of Co-Housing and how they fit with wider policy priorities and the needs of older people themselves.
Thanks to funding support from the Big Lottery and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation we are able to offer you significantly discounted rates of £45 for a day delegate (£25 for not for profit organisations) including lunch and refreshments. Exhibition space is also being offered at £145 (includes space and free delegate place).
The attached flier gives further details of the seminar together with a booking form to be returned to the DTA Scotland (contact details provided) as soon as possible as places are limited. Full details can also be found on the Vivarium Trust website – www.vivariumtrust.co.uk
We hope that you and/or your colleagues will be able to attend.
